"Thank you for all of your support these past years that I've been in the program. It helped my parents a lot because they don't have to spend money on supplies because you guys are helping us."

PACS NEWS: 2004

December 2004 Holiday Party

Staff and Board members gathered to celebrate the holidays with an evening of fun and food at Shanghai Reds Restaurant. There were many competitions and games like “guess the price” that ended with highly sought after prizes.  A couple of lucky staff members won an additional paid day off.  Special thanks to Joycelyn Manzano, Beth Spargo and Vicki Lau for all their hard work planning this event.

2004 – the Y.E.S.  After School Program

Through free activities, underserved Asian and Pacific Islander children, ages 5-18, who are at-risk for drop out and gang activity are encouraged and enabled to remain in school through WRAP’s supportive Youths Excelling for Success (YES) Program.

These are some of the lucky children in the program along with their facilitators.

We offer group activities such as educational workshops, sports and arts & crafts.  There are discussions on relationship building, improving communication skills, conflict resolution and anger management.  Time is spent on homework assistance so the kids can maintain or improve their grades.  Life skills are developed through new experiences and mentored relationships.  Currently, Y.E.S. has programs in the South Central and Long Beach areas.
