Board Retreat Installation

August 11, 2007 – This year’s Board Retreat was especially productive with a good mix of Board members, Advisory Council and staff. Ably facilitated by Tom Hayashi, we left the day with a lot of good projects to focus our attention on in the coming year plus a lot laughs and a sense of getting to know one another. Many thanks to The Gas Co. for underwriting the retreat and much appreciation to Playa Vista for allowing us to use their beautiful and spacious CenterPointe Club. |

July 23, 2007 – PACS’ staff enjoy socializing with one another, especially at their annual staff picnic. Several staff brought their children, nieces and nephews adding to the fun. This year, the theme was pirates and the décor and games carried that out to great effect. With activities such as racing to fill a bucket with water, tossing water balloons, guessing the number of candies in a bowl and breaking a piñata, there was a lot of laughing and competitive spirit.
April 7, 2007 – The Third Annual Cambodian New Year’s Parade is a special event for the staff, kids from the YES program, clients and family members. Each year, the parade keeps growing with even bigger floats and larger groups. A new group of Cambodian boxers displayed their fine physiques and many tattoos. African American and Hispanic organizations also take part, representing the ethnic diversity of the community surrounding Cambodian Town on Anaheim Street. This year, PACS had its very own palm juice carrier and she was the hit of the day. With so many agrarian Cambodians living in Long Beach, she reminded them of home. To make it even better, a photo of our group made the front page of the Long Beach Press Telegram!

March 22, 2007 – After a long interval, the Board decided it was time to re-activate the Advisory Council with a working dinner at the Empress Restaurant. With an excellent turn-out, the attendees spent an energetic evening renewing old acquaintances and making new ones while they focused on the future needs of the agency. PACS appreciates the generous support of Wes Tanaka of Southern California Edison and Board member, Mona Miyasato and her husband, David Rzepinski.
